Drôle de père (lit. “The Odd Father") is the story of Antoine, who, after a five-year-long culinary journey, returns to Liège, having decided to open his own restaurant. But his return proves to be much more difficult than he first thought. His mother’s health has taken a turn for the worse, and Antoine is overcome with remorse. He starts to think of Camille, a former lover and the mother of their little girl, Elsa, whom he has never met.

He decides to go and see her, but as he knocks on her door, he finds Camille is about to leave on an important business trip. She is waiting for her baby-sitter, who is running late. Panicked, Camille asks Antoine to wait for the sitter, so as not to miss her plane. Caught off guard, Antoine accepts, although he never imagined that the baby-sitter would not show up and he would find himself alone with his daughter for three days of summer.
